Created entirely from raw aluminum with no paint. The image was formed through layered directional grinding, creating different reflective surfaces that shift and catch the light as the viewer moves past the piece.

Liberty Series

Created in the period following September 11, 2001, my Lady Liberty Series grew from a desire to respond through painting and honor the ideals represented byLiberty Enlightening the World. I was drawn to her not only as a symbol of freedom, resilience, immigration, and the promise of liberty, but also as an extraordinary monumental work of art—when completed in 1886, she was the largest statue in the world. I wanted the series to celebrate the many cultures, histories, and people who have come together to shape America. Through my own visual language, I explored Lady Liberty as both an iconic work of art and a reminder of the ideals we cherish and the continuing journey of living up to them.
