Raised in South Lake Tahoe on the edge of California and Nevada, I grew up surrounded by the rugged beauty of the American West. Just beyond Tahoe, the desert mountains open into wild mustang country — a land of vast skies, weathered earth, and horses that still embody freedom in its purest form.
The wild mustangs of Nevada have long inspired me with their strength, grace, and untamed spirit. To create Mustangs Wild, I spent time watching herds in Washoe Valley and the Virginia Mountain Range, taking in their movement, energy, and the way each horse carried its own unique presence. The two horses that most captured my heart came from different herds, and in this painting I brought them together as an artistic tribute to the beauty of the wild.
The black stallion possessed a fierce and protective spirit, while the paint mare carried a quiet beauty that drew me in immediately. Set beneath a dramatic Sierra sky, they stand as symbols of both power and grace — deeply rooted in the land, yet belonging fully to the freedom of the open range.
Mustangs Wild is my celebration of the majestic wild horses of the West and the raw, soulful beauty of the landscape they call home.
