ART STORY: I grew up in South Lake Tahoe on the boarder of Nevada and California. Just off to the the East only a 30 minute drive is the Sierra Nevada Dessert. One of our wild animals that live abundantly out there are the wild mustang horses. They are big and gorgeous animals that roam all over the mountains and plains in the West. Growing up with these so close I knew I wanted the challenge of trying to share their power and grace in a painting. So I went and spent time out watching the different herds in Washoe Valley and up in the Virginia Mountain range. The two horses I liked the best from their personalities and colors were from two differnt herds but I took my artistic liberty and put them in my painting together. The big black stalion from the Washoe Lake herd was so fiesty and protective of his herd so I stayed my distance and respectively watched them. The paint mare was from the Virginia range and I just loved her. If you love horses or have been around the wild mustangs you probably agree that they are quit majestic!
